IPL (intense pulsed light) CPL (calibrated pulsed light) systems
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, a process that filters light from several different parts of the spectrum to provide photorejuvenation of the skin, targeting and visibly improving problems such as sun damage, sun spots, rosacea and spider veins.<\/p>

Calibrated Pulsed Light, CPL, is the next generation of skin rejuvenation with the latest IPL technology, using light to treat a variety of skin problems. Non-invasive powerful wavelengths are pulsed into the skin to stimulate some of the deeper layers of the skin, resulting in healthier, smoother skin. These wavelengths are delivered to the skin at sensational speeds to ensure effectiveness.<\/p>

CPL rejuvenation (or in combination with volumetrics) results in improved skin tone and a reduction in the depth and number of wrinkles. CPL causes selective thermal damage to the structures of the papillary and reticular layers of the dermis to stimulate fibroblast activity and synthesis of new collagen fibres.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

    Fresh tanning or planned intensive tanning.<\/p>

    During the consultation, the specialist will assess the condition of the skin and decide whether the treatment is safe. If contraindications to photorejuvenation are identified, the specialist may recommend alternative rejuvenation treatments that will produce similar results.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

    \n <\/i><\/i><\/span>\n Recommendations for pre-treatment <\/span> <\/div>\n\n

    We recommend that clients avoid sunbathing and excessive sun exposure for 6 weeks prior to CPL treatment. We also advise clients to avoid any treatments that may irritate the skin for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment, including waxing.<\/p><\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

    \n <\/i><\/i><\/span>\n Recommendations after treatment<\/span> <\/div>\n\n
    \n

    Most people tolerate the CPL procedure. After the procedure, the skin may be red, irritated and swollen. Pigmented skin may become darker before it peels off. Full results may appear 4-6 weeks after completion of a series of CPL treatments.<\/p>

    Darker brown spots - brown spots and freckles may appear darker as they heal after CPL treatment, especially after the first treatment in a series. Do not attempt to remove these discoloured areas. Allow them to peel off naturally.
    Redness and swelling - the skin may be swollen and red after treatment. The erythema (redness) and swelling (puffiness) of the treated area usually subsides within a few hours, but may persist for up to seven days or longer. It is usually most noticeable immediately after treatment and on the morning of treatment. Cold compresses (5 minutes and 10 minutes) should be applied several times a day to relieve redness and swelling. You may experience irritation, itching and\/or mild burning or sunburn-like pain within 48 hours after treatment.<\/p>

    Blister and scab care - if scabs or burns occur, apply a thin layer of an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment 2-3 times a day for 3 days. Please call us if you experience burns or scabs.
    Hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation (darkening or lightening of skin colour) may occur. Please call us if you experience such a reaction.<\/p>

    What to avoid after CPL \/ IPL treatment?<\/strong>
    Aspirin, Ibuprofen, alcohol, intense exercise and activities that may cause redness for 2 days after treatment.
    Avoid heat, any kind of direct heat, sunbathing, saunas and any steam generating equipment.
    Care should be taken when cooking, frying and baking.<\/p>

    Skin care after CPL \/ IPL treatment<\/p>

    The skin may be sensitive to temperature for a few days after treatment. Gentle cleansers and moisturisers should be used. Topical products such as retinols and glycolic acid products should be avoided for at least one week after treatment.
